Blog Post #7

Many schools require teachers to maintain class pages to communicate important information to students and families. For this post, I visited the Leon County Schools website (Leon County Schools - Home) and looked at teacher pages for Leon County Schools. On several public class pages, I noticed teachers included contact information, course syllabi, classroom expectations, homework calendars, supply lists, and links to learning platforms that they use in the class. Some teachers also posted newsletters, important upcoming dates, and downloadable resources like study guides or project rubrics.

As a future educator, I plan to use technology to help my professional responsibilities to be more organized and efficient. I would use Canva to design engaging presentations that go along with my lesson, Canva has many different templetes that are eye-catching and go perfectly with various themes. To help with lesson plans, I could use AI tools to outline a potential plan that I could refine. Calander tools and task management apps will help me to stay on top of deadlines and meetings. These tools not only save time but also allow me to focus more energy on student engagement and lessons.

Working on Assignment 2: Critical Evaluation using the Canvas group tool was a valuable experience because it helped me think more critically about lesson design. I believe AI can effectively support aspects of lesson planning such as generating learning objectives, suggesting activities, aligning standards, and drafting assessments all while keeping things organized. However, human teacher expertise is still important, as no one knows what children need better than their teachers. AI tools do not know how students will respond to certain activities. This assignment taught me that a “good” lesson plan is clear, purposeful, aligned to objectives, and intentionally designed to engage students. Evaluating an AI-generated lesson made me more aware of the importance of organization, intentional questioning, and pacing. I liked how easy it was for everyone to edit on the canvas group page, however we were not able to communicate on it like we could on a different tool such as word or google docs.
